Apple Hill

Fall isn't complete with a trip to Apple Hill. That's not entirely true... we haven't been since 2007 which was Brian, Jason and Caitlin's first ever visit. Growing up in Sacramento, Apple Hill is a tradition for many as soon as October arrives each year.  It's about an hour drive, often in traffic and on days like today, long lines and big crowds. The food is amazing, weather was gorgeous and lots to do and see. The kids and I went with Grammy, Auntie, Ryan and Abby. Caramel apples were the big bribe for good behavior.

When we arrived to our first stop, Abel's Apple Farm, there was a maze and pony rides. We gave the kids a choice which they wanted to do, and all but Abby chose the maze. After having a great lunch at Abel's, we drove a little further to High Hill which is the most popular of the 50 ish farms. We walked around a little and then stopped to have caramel apples and then buy pies to bring home. Caitlin, one bite in to her apple said she wanted all the caramel wiped off. I decided to tuck hers away for later, eat all the caramel off mine and give her just the inside apple :) Worked out well for both of us! After a long car ride home we baked the pie and enjoyed all the deliciousness of the day!
