Last year, by the time I got around to looking into summer activites for Jason, everything was already booked up. This year, I swear I'm going to be more on the ball. We promised Jason we would put him in a "sports" camp, and I think we will sign him up for a casual neighborhood sports camp at one of elementary schools with some friends. Last year, we did the camp at Natomas Raquet club and although he had a great time, it was pricey for what we got. Some tennis lessons, arts and crafts and free swim time.
For those of you who haven't spent much time looking through the Sacramento Parks and Rec guide that comes out quarterly, you need to check it out. It is full of fun, affordable activities for every age. The summer edition hasn't come out yet, but here is the Spring guide to check out:

The YMCA also has some good summer day camps and over night camps:

Jason has really been into science this year. There is a really fun looking sciene camp that runs all summer long and seems fun. Now, I know what you may be saying "SCIENCE CAMP"?? Like Ross from "Friends" kind of science camp. Who knows, just trying to explore our options.

There are many week long (or two or three week long) away camps for Jason's age group. We would need to find a sponsor or come up with a fundraising event to pay for any of those, but maybe some summer we'd be able to send him off. They look pretty awesome. Let me know if you hear of any local day camps that come recommended!!

Jeff used to work at the Boy Scout summer camp. I know, totally awesome. :) Anyway, it's a good wholesome place. Maybe they have something like that?
Thank you SO much for posting this! Logan LOVES science right now... I just signed him up for mid July! You rock! <3
