We took a few days off and enjoyed four days at Avila Beach. We have never stayed in Avila but usually end up spending many days there because it's clearly the best beach on the Central Coast, has the nicest weather and isn't nearly as "touristy" as some of the others. With limited hotel options, we chose to go the route of VRBO.com and rented a fabulous studio above a wine bar, just a half block off the main strip of shops and restaurants. The location couldn't have been more perfect.
As luck would have it, a few of my college roommates (and sorority sisters) were also in town with their families. We spent time with them at the Avila farmer's market on Friday night, and then again for dinner at Firestone Grill on Saturday night. We ran into them at other times as well which is the great thing about being in a small town. We always hate leaving but now know that staying in Avila is our best bet from now on!
